The South Africa tour of India 2025 will enter its last phase of action with the T20I commencing from 9 December. Ahead of that, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced IND VS SA T20I Series Squad for South Africa T20Is.
The month long India vs South Africa cricket matches will conclude with a 5 match T20I series. These five matches will be crucial for both the sides ahead of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.
These five matches will serve a great importance for both the teams to get their final preparations done and for the players to stake a claim to make it to the T20 World Cup squad for India and South Africa.

Hence, it is important for every players to maximize their opportunities. BCCI on December 3, Wednesday, announced the IND VS SA T20I Series Squad for South Africa 5 match T20I series.

The highlight of the IND VS SA T20I Series Squad announcement live on Wednesday by the BCCI is that vice-captain Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya are making a comeback into the team after recovering from their respective injuries.

Shubman Gill, India’s Test and ODI captain, suffered a neck injury during the India vs South Africa 1st Test match in Kolkata which subsequently rules him out for the 2nd Test and the following 3 match ODI series.
Since then, he has been recovering at the Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru and spending some time in the nets. Shubman Gill’s selection though still subject passing the fitness test prior to the series.
Meanwhile, former India T20I captain Hardik Pandya is also making his return to the Indian cricket team. Hardik was last part of the Indian team during the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4s in September and was ruled out of the tournament due to quadriceps injury.
Just like Gill, he has also been recovering at the COE in Bengaluru and most recently returned to action in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-2026 playing a match winning knock of 77 runs not out for Baroda.
Indian team’s frontline pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah has also been named for T20I series in IND VS SA T20I series squad announcement live on Wednesday.
Bumrah was rested for the ODI series after playing in the prior 2 match Test series. And given the importance of T20 World Cup 2026 starting from February, Jasprit Bumrah’s inclusion in the T20I squad was always planned.
Most notably, Rinku Singh has been dropped from the squad during IND VS SA T20I series squad announcement live on December 3.
Rinku hasn’t been prominently featuring for the Indian team and was finally removed from the squad as well. The KKR finisher has scored 550 runs in 35 T20I matches at a strike rate of 161.8 and average of 42.3. The last time he featured for the team, he scored the winning runs in the Asia Cup 2025 final.
