The 5-times IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been very busy over the off-season conducting several player trials in different phases.

Salman Nizar is the hottest name to attend the trials. The Kerala batter was part of the early CSK trials after a terrific Kerala Cricket League (KCL) 2025 campaign in which he scored 296 runs in 6 innings at a strike rate of 193.47 and average of 98.67.

Meanwhile, with Ravindra Jadeja traded to Rajasthan Royals as part of the deal involving Sanju Samson joining CSK, the Super Kings now need to fill the void left by Jaddu. CSK have had three left-arm orthodox spin bowlers attend the trials, including Sanjay Yadav, Harsh Tyagi and Prashant Veer. Among them, Prashant Veer is touted as the most likely option as he is very good with the bat as well as ball.

The franchise is also looking to add to its Indian pace bowling unit with Naman Tiwari and Esakkimuthu attending the trials. Tiwari is a former India U19 international while Esakkimuthu made the headlines with 14 wickets in TNPL 2025.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is going into the IPL 2026 Mini Auction with the most purse available, INR 64.30 Crore. They will be doing most of the business for major names, but the franchise is also known for unearthing new gem players. They have been silently conducting trials and not many names have been leaked yet.

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is in serious need of wicketkeeper batters with no keepers in the squad except for a makeshift Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Rajasthan’s 19-year-old wicketkeeper batter Kartik Sharma is one of the wicketkeeper batsmen who attended KKR trials. Kartik is an explosive keeper batter who has impressed many with his performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025. However, he will be in a lot of demand as he has reportedly attended as many as 7 IPL teams trials.

KKR being a club representing Kolkata and West Bengal, they have long not had a Bengali player in their team due to lack of quality Bengali players. But this year, one Bengal lad has caught the eyes of the franchise during KKR IPL trials, that is Karan Lal. Karan is an all-rounder who is a solid player with bat and ball. He can bat anywhere in the playing XI and bowls off-spin. He recently stunned everyone with a century in the SMAT 2025 vs Himachal Pradesh.

The defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have kept most of their players and would look to make some smart buys with an INR 16.40 Crore purse.

Looks like the franchise is targeting some Indian pace bowlers in the auction given the number of pacers who attended the trials. Navdeep Saini, Money Grewal, Ashok Sharma and Manisankar Murasingh are top pace bowlers who attended RCB trials.

Ravi Singh and Kartik Sharma were among the wicketkeeper batters who attended the Royal Challengers Bengaluru players trials for IPL 2026. And if the reports are to be believed, the franchise is quite interested in Kartik Sharma, who impressed in the trial.

With only INR 2.75 Crore left in their purse, you would expect the 5-times champions Mumbai Indians (MI) to make only smart buys at a low price. They have also had player trials and some interesting names were in attendance.

With Vignesh Puthur released, MI continues their search for an Indian spin bowler. Shubham Rana and Yash Punja were among the spin bowlers who attended the trials. Yash is an unknown talent but Shubham Rana is an exciting bowler who has performed very well in the Punjab T20 league.

The Hardik Pandya led side has also been looking at talented young Indian batters. Madhya Pradesh’s Akshat Raghuvanshi, Salil Arora and Mukul Chaudhary attended MI IPL trials for IPL 2026. It remains to be seen whether MI will bid for any of them.

Interestingly, the most notable name in attendance at the Mumbai Indians players trials was Jammu and Kashmir’s talented pacer Auqib Nabi, who has been brilliant in the domestic circuit. However, given MI’s low purse and huge interest in Nabi, he looks out of reach for MI.
