Ryan Williams Indian football team debut vs Bangladesh delayed

The Australia born Indian origin professional footballer Ryan Williams NOC update has arrived and the Bengaluru FC winger won’t be making his debut during India vs Bangladesh AFC Asian Cup qualifier match.

The 32-year-old former Australian footballer has been playing for Indian club Bengaluru FC since arriving at the club in 2023.

Despite born in Australia, Williams has Indian heritage through his mother. Ryan’s mother was born to a Anglo-Indian family in Mumbai. Also his maternal grandfather played for Bombay in the Santosh Trophy during the 1950s.

Ryan Williams has played for Australia at youth level as well as making a single appearance for the Australian senior football team, that was way back in 2019. Since then, he has never made any further appearance for the Kangaroos.

Williams has been turning for Bengaluru for two seasons and made a desire to represent the Indian football. However, as India don’t allow dual citizenship, in November 2025, Ryan Williams surrendered his Australian citizenship to gain Indian citizenship.

Soon after gaining his citizenship, the 32-year-old winger was added into the Indian team squad for the upcoming India vs Bangladesh AFC Asian Cup qualifier match on November 18.

However, for Ryan Williams to make his India debut vs Bangladesh, he had to get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Football Australia.

Now according to latest Ryan Williams NOC update by famous Football journalist Marcus Mergulhao, Williams has received his NOC from Football Australia, however, he still won’t be able to make his India debut vs Bangladesh as Ryan also needs an approval from FIFA to complete the registration, which is yet to arrive few hours before the match.

Ryan Williams Indian Football Team Debut Date

Looks like Ryan Williams will now have wait a little bit longer to make his Indian football team debut. The India vs Bangladesh AFC Asian Cup qualifier will be the Blue Tigers’ last match of the year 2025.

Team India will next be in action during the Match FIFA International window. Team India is already scheduled to play Hong Kong in their final AFC Asian Cup qualifier match on 31 March. So there is great chance that Ryan Williams make his India debut vs Hong Kong in March 2026.

India vs Bangladesh AFC Asian Cup Qualifier

The upcoming India vs Bangladesh match to be played in Bangladesh is a dead-rubber game as both sides are already out of the contention for qualifying into the AFC Asian Cup 2027.

Both sides have played 4 games and have lost 2 games and drawn 2, meaning both sides are still without a win in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier. The match will kick-off at 7:30 P.M Indian Standard Time (IST) and the live streaming will be available on FanCode app and website.
