KL Rahul has named the stand-in captain of the Indian cricket team for their upcoming ODI series against South Africa subsequently after the Test series concludes in Guwahati.
New India ODI captain Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the One Day Internationals (ODI) series against South Africa after the batter suffered a neck injury during the 1st Test match against the Proteas in Kolkata which also ruled him out for the 2nd Test match in Guwahati.
Team India Squad for South Africa ODI Series
In Shubman’s absence, his deputy KL Rahul has been named the stand-in captain for the three match ODI series that commences on 30 November in Ranchi.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli continue to feature in the ODI squad after retiring from the other two formats of the game as the duo are focused on making it to India’s final squad for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has earned his way back into the squad as a backup opener in place of injured Gill. Dhruv Jurel has also been included as a wicketkeeper batter alongside Rishabh Pant.
Harshit Rana has maintained his place in the team after impressing for India A. He will have Prasidh Krishna and Arshdeep Singh as his pace bowling compatriot while Nitish Kumar Reddy would be another medium pace bowling option in the squad.
The Men in Blue have gone with three quality spin bowlers for the series including all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar alongside the chinman bowler Kuldeep Yadav who has been in fantastic rhythm in the recent Test series vs the Proteas.

India vs South Africa ODI Series Schedule
The India vs South Africa ODI series will commence days after the 2nd Test in Guwahati concludes.
The first India vs South Africa ODI match has been scheduled for November 30 at the JSCA International Cricket Stadium in Ranchi. The 2nd ODI will then be played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur on December 3.
The 50-overs format will finally conclude on December 6 at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. All the matches will be played from 1:30 P.M. Indian Standard Time (IST) and will be live telecast on Star Sports Network and live streaming on JioHotstar.
