The WPL 2026 Auction proceedings began with the Australian veteran Alyssa Healy going unsold. Meanwhile, Gujarat Giants Women fend-off Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Women and Delhi Capitals Women to secure the first purchase of the auction in the form of Kiwi batter Sophie Devine.
Meanwhile, the UP Warriorz Women flexed their 14.5 Cr purse as they used the RTM for India’s ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 MVP Deepti Sharma for 3.20 Cr, Sophie Ecclestone for 85.0 Lakh and former Delhi Capitals Women’s captain Meg Lanning for 1.90 Cr, beating the Delhi Capitals Women’s for all three players.
Gujarat Giants also secured Indian pacer Renuka Singh Thakur for 60.0 Lakh other than Sophie Devine. Delhi Capitals (DC) Women’s and Mumbai Indians (MI) Women’s also secured one player each, the former bid 1.10 Cr for South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt while Reliance owned Mumbai franchise break the bank for Amelia Kerr at 3.00 Cr.

Deepti Sharma Becomes 2nd Most Expensive Player in WPL History
After the UP Warriorz decided to use the RTM card for Deepti Sharma at 3.20 Cr, she has now become the 2nd most expensive player in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) Auction history, behind Smriti Mandhana who was sold for 3.40 Cr to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Women in the inaugural auction.
Deepti has been a part of the UP Warriorz Women since the inaugural season in 2023. Delhi Capitals had the initial bid at 50.0 Lakh but UP decided to use the RTM Card. The Capitals then raised the price to 3.20 Cr which also the UP franchise accepted to bring her back home.
