Lucknow Super Giants struggled last season with Rishabh Pant in the leadership role, yet the team stuck by him and retained him on board. Bowling was a weak spot during IPL 2025; because of that, they brought in Mohammed Shami from Sunrisers Hyderabad. On top of that, they sent Shardul Thakur over to the Mumbai Indians.
Even after shaking up their lineup and leaders, Lucknow Super Giants didn’t do better in IPL 2025. Rishabh Pant stepped in as skipper instead of KL Rahul, whereas Zaheer Khan started guiding the side behind the scenes. Still, they missed the playoffs again – ending up seventh on the points table. This year, they are seeking improvement in their performance and will strive to overcome the challenging phase.
LSG just picked up Rishabh Pant for a huge Rs 27 crore, which makes him the priciest player ever in the league! They also let go of seven players, even David Miller, who can be a real threat. Shamar Joseph, who’s had some injury problems, is out too.
