After the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the IPL 2025 beating Punjab Kings in the final, the excitement is now building for next season. And it all starts with the IPL 2026 Players Auction in December. But before that, we take a look at IPL 2026 Retained and Released Players List All Teams.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli finally have had their 18 years long wait come to an end as RCB were finally crowned the IPL champions in 2025.

RCB Retained and Released Players List IPL 2026
The defending champions will be looking towards not making much tweaks going into the auction. The RCB retention list will feature the likes of Virat Kohli, captain Rajat Patidar, Phil Salt, Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar among notable names.
However, Mayank Agarwal, who came as a replacement for injured Devdutt Padikkal, is set to be released with the likes of Lungi Ngidi, Nuwan Thusara. But the biggest name expected in the released list is to be Liam Livingstone, who failed to live-up to the expectations.

PBKS Retained and Released Players List IPL 2026
The Punjab Kings made it to the IPL final for the first time since 2014 under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, who is set to continue with the franchise. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh who formed a lethal opening partnership, are also set to continue with PBKS’ local boy Arshdeep Singh.
However, some big names could be shown the exit doors, likely including the likes of Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Hardie and Xavier Bartlett. The duo of Stoinis and Maxwell were inconsistent while Maxwell also suffered an injury.

MI Retained and Released Players List IPL 2026
Mumbai Indians will follow their regular auction strategy, keeping hold of most of their important players. The notable MI retention IPL 2026 names will include the likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and captain Hardik Pandya.
Mumbai Indians is not likely to release many big name players. But we expect the likes of Bevon Jacobs, Corbin Bosch, Lizaard Williams, Reece Topley to be in the released players list. GT Retained and Released Players List IPL 2026
The Gujarat Titans this season were mostly carried by the trio of Jos Buttler, Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill with the bat while Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj and Sai Kishore with the ball. All of them are set to continue with the franchise. The GT retention list IPL 2026 could also include Sherfane Rutherford, Washington Sundar, Kagiso Rabada. Meanwhile, despite a not so good season, Rashid Khan is also expected to continue.

DC Retained and Released Players List IPL 2026
The Delhi Capitals retained players list is going to be exciting to watch out for. According to reports, the DC management is not happy with Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc while KL Rahul is linked with a trade move to KKR. Yet we are currently including them in the retained players list, which is most likely if Rahul doesn’t move and DC management and Starc resolve all the issues. The other notable names in the retained list includes the likes of Axar Patel, Abhishek Porel.
However, the DC Released Players List could also feature some big names. Faf du Plessis is getting old and was out injured for a few matches. T Natarajan was overlooked for the entire season while the likes of Mohit Sharma, Mustafizur Rahman etc didn’t make most of the opportunities they got.

SRH Retained and Released Players List IPL 2026
Despite failing to qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs, don’t expect much changes in the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) set-up. All the big names like Pat Cummins, Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, Harshal Patel are to be retained. There are rumours around Ishan Kishan getting traded to either KKR to Mumbai Indians, but it seems very unlikely.
The most notable name in the SRH released players list could be Mohammed Shami. He was signed for 10 crore but didn’t have a great IPL 2025 campaign. Other than that, some fringe players like Wiaan Mulder, Abhinav Manohar could be released too.

The new Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant faced lots of criticism last season, but the wicketkeeper batter is set to continue after scoring a century in the last match. Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Ayush Badoni, who have all had a great season, are set to continue in IPL 2026 for LSG.
David Miller is expected to be the biggest name in the LSG released players list IPL 2026. Miller didn’t have a great campaign and failed to perform according to his role. The biggest miss in the Rajasthan Royals retained players list IPL 2026 is going to be their captain Sanju Samson. The wicketkeeper batter is unhappy with the management and has no intention to play for the franchise with KKR and MI lurking. CSK Retained and Released Players List IPL 2026
Despite finishing at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table, not a lot of changes are expected to be made for CSK. Among major retained players would include the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, MS Dhoni, Rachin Ravindra, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, Ayush Mhatre and even Dewald Brevis, who was signed as a mid-season replacement.
CSK is most likely to part ways with their Kiwi opening batter Devon Conway with Rachin Ravindra likely preferred ahead of him. Recently, Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement while the likes of Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda are shown set to be released.
