After the festive season of Diwali in October, billions of Indian people will celebrate a massive football festival in the 2nd week of December, as Argentina’s football legend and one of the Greatest of All Time (GOAT), Lionel Messi, will be visiting the country for a three-day tour across four Indian cities.

Lionel Messi will be visiting India just for the 2nd time and almost 14 years after his last visit in 2011 when he played a friendly match with Argentina against Paraguay in Kolkata. Messi’s visit to India will span across three days in four major cities of the country.
13 December – Kolkata
- The tour will begin on December 13 when he will be in Kolkata. The event will be held at the Yuva Bharati Krirangan, also known as the Salt Lake Stadium. The event there will include a musical extravaganza and a live performance.
- Other than that, Messi will also catch up with the likes of former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly, former Indian footballer Bhaichung Bhutia, and former Indian tennis player Leander Paes, who will display skills and play mini-games.
13 December – Ahmedabad
Right after the event is wrapped up in Kolkata, Messi will then head to Ahmedabad. There the Adani Foundation will host him in a private party at a private venue. Fans won’t be involved in this, as it will be an invite-only affair that includes some top businessmen, including the likes of Mr Gautam Adani.
14 December – Mumbai
- On 14 December, the former FC Barcelona captain will be in Mumbai as part of the Lionel Messi GOAT Tour of India 2025. The event will be held at the historic Wankhede Stadium.
- In this event, he will be involved in a Padel GOAT Cup exhibition match where he will display his padel skills, a sport that involves rackets, and Messi is a big fan of this sport.
- Other than that, he will host football masterclasses for young budding Indian players. There will be food festivals and meet-and-greet sessions with the likes of Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan and many others.
December 15 – New Delhi
- The Lionel Messi India GOAT Tour 2025 will wrap up in New Delhi on December 15. The event will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. There, he will meet with the likes of Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill and take part in a 7v7 GOAT Cup match with the celebrities. It will be followed by a musical concert.
- Before that, he will also head to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he will meet India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the game of football and youth empowerment. He will then depart on the same day.
