After a lengthy week abroad, Monday Night Raw returned to the United States for the October 20 program, kicking off the buildup to the next Saturday Night’s Main Event. More crucially, it functioned as a follow-up to last week’s big angle, which saw The Vision turn on Seth Rollins.
The event also had three championship matchups, giving it a sense of significance similar to how Raw felt earlier this year, when the stakes were continuously rising each week.

Judgment Day (c) vs. AJ Styles & Dragon Lee
Early in the match, the challengers focused on JD McDonagh. But he turned things around with a double stomp on Dragon Lee and tagged in Finn Balor. Lee came back with a face full of boot and a Hurricanrana before taking JD down on the apron with a knee.
Balor almost won it after a big counter, but AJ Styles finally tagged in. When RAW came back from the break, JD countered with a big powerbomb. The champs then landed a moonsault/coup de grace combo. But AJ answered with a Styles Clash on Balor to win it!
Result: AJ Styles & Dragon Lee beat Judgment Day and are the new World Tag Team Champions on RAW.
Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. Rusev
After weeks of avoiding Rusev and his request for an Intercontinental Championship match, Dominik Mysterio was forced to defend his title against The Bulgarian Brute in Monday Night RAW.
As the underdog, Mysterio benefited from an enthusiastic crowd supporting him and the achievement of a successful championship defence. Rusev, on the other hand, dispatched him with a Machka Kick, and a two-count just fuelled his rage.
Mysterio threw the IC belt at Rusev while pretending to be injured, like Eddie Guerrero had done, but referee Eddie Orengo got him. As the official removed the title, Mysterio caught Rusev with an unseen low blow, securing the roll-up win.
Result: Mysterio beat Rusev to retain the championship.
Becky Lynch (c) vs. Maxxine Dupri
Becky Lynch started strong, taking down Maxxine Dupri right away and stomping on her. Then, Becky hit Maxxine with a few Bexploder suplexes. Maxxine fought back with some right hooks, followed by kicks and a leg drop, trying to lock in an ankle lock.
Becky tried for the Disarmer, but Maxxine reversed it into another ankle lock. Becky then dropped Maxxine on the top turnbuckle and tried to run off with her title. Maxxine pulled her back into the ring and landed a big move, but Becky then hit her with the title, ending the match with a DQ.
Result: Maxxine Dupri beat Becky Lynch
Stephanie Vaquer vs Roxanne Perez
The women’s world champion looked to maintain her current winning streak when she faced Roxanne Perez in a non-title contest Monday night.
La Primera overcame Raquel Rodriguez’s interference heading into the break to stage a comeback, stunning spectators with the Devil’s Kiss before propelling herself from the top rope and into the Judgement Day rivals on the floor.
Back within the squared circle, Vaquer defeated Perez and claimed victory. After the bout, he heels assaulted the champion until Nikki Bella intervened, fending off Perez and Rodriguez alongside the winner before standing tall to conclude the segment.
Result: Vaquer beat Perez.
World Heavyweight Championship #1 Contender’s Battle Royal
CM Punk joined Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett on the commentary team, analyzing his prospective opponents for Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Otis, wanting retribution for the incident that disabled him, teamed up with Rusev but was quickly eliminated, followed by Alpha Academy comrade Tozawa.
Judgement Day removed Lee as a form of retaliation for the team’s tag championship defeat earlier in the program, while Mysterio eliminated Rusev and Penta.
JD, Balor, and Sheamus all got knocked out. Then AJ took out Dominik, but the refs didn’t see it! Dom snuck back in and got back into the match. Kofi was then eliminated by Styles. Things sped up, and soon it was down to Dom and Jey Uso. Jey blocked the 619 and then won.
