After completing his switch from Australian citizenship to Indian citizenship, Ryan Williams has now asked Indian origin footballer Yan Dhanda to switch to Indian citizenship and play for the Indian football team.
The Indian football team is in complete tatters at the moment after suffering a humiliating defeat against Bangladesh in their Asian Cup Qualifier match during the November International window.
Despite all of that, the Indian football fans received good news during the window as Australian winger Ryan Williams received his NOC from Football Australia and FIFA to complete his switch to Indian citizenship and play for the Indian team. However, he wasn’t allowed to play vs Bangladesh as he didn’t receive approval from FIFA before the registration window closed a day prior to the match.

Indian football’s current state has left fans shell-shocked and heartbroken. Among all of that, Ryan Williams has recently asked English Indian origin footballer Yan Dhanda to change his citizenship and play for Team India national football team.
Ryan Williams Asks Yan Dhanda to Play for Indian Football Team
Recently, after obtaining his citizenship, Ryan Williams was called-up to the Indian football team squad for the match vs Bangladesh. Although he didn’t play the match, he shared some pictures of him training with the Indian team wearing the Indian practice kit.
Under that same post, Yan Dhanda replied “Yes bro”. Soon after, Ryan Williams also replied to Yan telling him it is his turn next to switch his citizenship and play for the Indian football team.
Yan Dhanda is an Indian origin English midfielder who was born in Birmingham. While his mother is an Englishwoman, his father was born to a Punjabi family.
Yan is currently 26 and it is almost likely that he won’t get to play for England unless he drastically improves his level and given how dense the competition is for England football team’s midfield.
On several occasions, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has tried to convince him to play for team India. Although he is interested in representing India and playing international football for the Blue Tigers, however, he is unwilling to relinquish his England citizenship as laws in India don’t allow dual citizenship.
Yan Dhanda’s addition to the Indian national football team midfield would be a significant improvement. Yan began his career at West Brom and Liverpool at youth level. He is currently playing for Dundee FC in the Scottish Premiership on loan from Heart of Midlothian.
