Watch Sanath Jayasuriya's Frustration

India defeated Sri Lanka in a thrilling super over, but the result could have been unique if not for a crucial mistake on the last ball. Sri Lanka was in a strong position to win the match comfortably, thanks to some fine batting from Nissanka and Kusal Perera. However, one moment of misjudgment turned the game completely, leaving Sri Lanka disappointed and their coach, Sanath Jayasuriya, visibly frustrated.

Sri Lanka needed 12 runs in the final over of their chase. Shanaka, leading the charge, played a few impressive shots against Harshit Rana to bring the equation down. With two balls remaining, Sri Lanka required 7 runs to win. Facing Harshit Rana, Shanaka lofted the ball over the infield for a boundary, reducing the target to just 3 runs from the last delivery.

Shanaka faced intense pressure when he faced the final ball. Harshit Rana threw a short-pitched ball, and Shanaka swung hard but didn’t hit it cleanly. Still, the ball rolled into a space, giving the batters plenty of time to run for two. Axar Patel, who was fielding near the boundary, made a mistake that allowed a third run to score. Sadly, Shanaka didn’t see Axar’s mistake. He didn’t capitalise; instead, he dived to finish the second run safely, missing out on the chance to win.

At this point, Sri Lanka could only tie the game, resulting in a super over. In the end, India kept their cool and won the last game. Sanath Jayasuriya, who is on the Sri Lankan coaching staff, was clearly upset after the game because he thought Sri Lanka had missed a chance to win.
