WWE SmackDown Results and Highlights

The October 31st episode of Friday Night SmackDown took place live from the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Think of it as the final preview before Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1st.

Lots of big names were promoted for the show, like Cody Rhodes, Tiffany Stratton, Randy Orton, Jacob Fatu, Chelsea Green, and Sami Zayn. Saturday’s competitors all met one last time prior to SNME.

Here’s what went down this past Friday, including a recap, best moments, results, and a list of who won on the 10/31 episode of WWE SmackDown.

WWE SmackDown Results and Highlights

Ilja Dragunov (c) vs Nathan Frazer

Nathan Frazer and Axiom walked out to answer Ilja Dragunov’s challenge; however, Tomasso Ciampa stopped the entrance to argue about Frazer having the championship opportunity.  Dragunov points out that Frazer arrived first and waves Ciampa off to begin the show’s opening match.

The fast-paced encounter saw both men push each other to their limits, reducing the damage.  Frazer almost won after delivering the Phenoix Splash, but Ilja battled back with a Slam followed by the H-Bomb to pin Frazer and retain the championship.

Carmelo Hayes vs Kit Wilson

This week on WWE SmackDown, the two big stars had a real fight. During the match, The Miz got involved and slammed Carmelo Hayes’s face into the ring post. Kit Wilson tried to take advantage of the situation, but he failed. Hayes then hit his First 48 to win. Right after, though, Miz surprised him with a Skull Crushing Finale.

Alexa Bliss vs Nia Jax

Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax, former friends became enemies, competed in an entertaining battle on SmackDown.  Despite her size disadvantage, Bliss held her own against the formidable Jax.  In the waning minutes, she was about to unleash the Annihilator when Charlotte Flair distracted her.  This allowed Bliss ample time to land The Irresistible Force on the mat and cover her for the pinfall.

Motor City Machine Guns vs MFTs

In the show’s final showdown, Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) faced off against MFTs (JC Mateo & Tama Tonga) in a tag team match. Both teams fought hard for control, with the upper hand changing constantly. MCMG gained an advantage, even dodging a Talla Tonga attack outside the ring. But, the odds turned when Solo Sikoa distracted the ref while Tonga Loa shoved Shelley off the top rope.

Tonga then hit his Cut Throat move to pin Sabin for the victory. After the bell, Solo Sikoa and the MFT kept attacking Shelley and Sabin, until Rey Fenix ran in to help. Unfortunately, he got a big boot from Tanga Tonga. Then, Shinsuke Nakamura raced in to even things up, taking out Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa. But, Tanga Tonga got him too, delivering a chokeslam to end the night standing tall with his group.

SNME Contract Signing

Both superstars met in the ring to sign contracts for their Undisputed WWE Title fight in Saturday night’s main event.  Drew McIntyre refused to sign it, claiming that Cody Rhodes would utilise simple methods such as DQ or countout to keep the championship.

As he was leaving, Rhodes stopped him and told him that if he was disqualified or counted out, he would lose his championship, to which McIntyre agreed.  Both traded jabs until McIntyre mentioned his daughters, prompting Rhodes to strike him.  McIntyre escaped, but returned to strike a Claymore and put Rhodes on the table, bringing the program to a close.
