There is always drama in games between India and Pakistan. The political animosity between these two countries often makes their rivalry go beyond sports, whether it’s cricket or football.

India and Pakistan have played each other twice in the current Asia Cup, once in the Group Stage and once in the Super Four. Both games were full with drama. But the heat wasn’t only for cricket. There was also a new occurrence in football.

Drama in the SAFF U17 Championship

India beat Pakistan 3-2 in a very close game during the SAFF U-17 Championship in Colombo. Even though both teams were already in the semifinals, the game developed into a very heated struggle.

Dallalmuon Gangte scored India’s first goal in the 31st minute. Muhammad Abdullah scored a penalty to tie the game for Pakistan in the 43rd minute. What happened next got everyone’s attention. Abdullah and his friends made fun of their opponents by pretending to drink tea in the corner.

There was a lot of debate about the gesture, but eventually, it didn’t work. India got stronger when Danny Singh Wangkhem made a fantastic move on the side and set up Gangte to score again. India finally won 3-2, keeping their winning streak against Pakistan going.

Interestingly, Abdullah’s celebration happened just one day after Pakistani cricketers Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan made rude gestures during their Asia Cup match against India in Dubai. India had won that cricket match by six wickets, and now its U17 football squad has also shown that they are the best by winning.
